Project scope

Height-adjustable desks are increasingly popular in modern workspaces, both in office buildings as well as home office environments. The variety of workplace environments gives rise to new demands for different accessories as well as placements for those accessories. To attach these different accessories custom attachment products are designed, leading to a variety of configurations and an increasing number of custom parts.

This thesis explores the development of an accessories adapter to fit a variety of accessories using a limited number of interfaces. The work focuses on mechanical design, plastic part and/or metal part development, CAD modeling, prototyping, and test & verification. Multiple design concepts will be generated and evaluated, with selected solutions further developed and validated. The goal is to allow for a modular approach to attach current and future accessories while keeping down the number of custom parts.
