A long-standing partnership
ROL Retail Concepts and Filmstaden have worked together since 2015 on both rebuilds and new cinema projects. Our deliveries have covered a wide range of areas, including shops, cash desks, lounges and other public spaces. The projects combine construction, interiors and technical installations. This requires close coordination between several different professional teams.
A complete cinema transformation
One of our most distinctive projects together is Filmstaden Bergakungen in Gothenburg. The cinema is partly built into the mountain and offers a unique environment for both visitors and project teams. ROL Retail Concepts has been involved in several renovations of the shop and lounge areas. The aim has been to improve both functionality and the overall guest experience.
Improving the customer flow
A key focus of the renovations was to create a better flow through the shop and provide guests with a wider offering. New shop solutions, self-service areas and flexible displays make the space easier to navigate and adapt. The updated lounges also create more comfortable areas for guests before the movie. Together, these changes have improved both the appearance and functionality of the cinema.
Close communication throughout the project
Clear communication and careful planning are essential when working in an active cinema environment. Close contact between Filmstaden, ROL Retail Concepts and the other project partners helped keep the work moving forward. Details, quality and finish were important throughout the process. A solution-oriented approach also made it possible to handle challenges quickly as they appeared.
From construction to digital signage
The Bergakungen project included everything from floors, walls and ceilings to furnishings and digital signage. Combining several disciplines within the same project creates a more coordinated delivery. Particular attention was given to the quality and finish of the shop and cash register areas. The result is a modern environment designed to support both Filmstaden’s operations and its visitors.

Ica Maxi - Flygfyren
At ICA Maxi Flygfyren in Norrtälje, the candy department has been transformed into a colourful and inviting destination. The new concept combines clear communication, generous product displays and playful details to create an area that stands out in the store and makes the shopping experience both simple and enjoyable.
OKQ8 – Quick To Go
We are revisiting the forecourt store OKQ8 that is next to Landvetter airport in Gothenburg, where the new concept rollout called “Quick To Go” started in 2014. “Since this first store delivery, ROL Retail Concepts have completed about 240 store deliveries to OKQ8 – updating their stores to the Quick To Go concept” – says Maria Sandberg, Project manager at ROL Retail Concepts.
Maxi ICA Visby
ROL Retail Concepts would like to proudly present our latest delivery to Maxi ICA Visby. The whole store has been refurbished and It features a completely new store concept. ICA has commissioned the design agency BLINK to design the new store concept. This store is so much more than just an ordinary grocery store.
